This uniquely styled house (it exhibits no discernable style) on Filbert Street was built in 1916 by William Walter Rednall. Rednall. Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 1859 he moved to San Francisco at the age of 20 and started as a millhand with Jason Springer & Co., a maker of wood moldings, doors, and windows. As he gained experience, Rednall became a builder, contractor, and real estate investor. This was a common theme of many builders in San Francisco during the early 20th century. He was active in the prestigious Ashby Terrace residence park during the 1910s.
